In Legal Studies, you have an opportunity to look at the Australian legal system. You will get the chance to read and analyse old cases, discuss and debate current and historical legal issues and even maybe create your own laws. You will also have the opportunity to visit the courts and see them in action.

 

Focus Areas in Semester One include Law and Communities, Government and Lawmaking, and Sports and the Law.

Focus Areas in Semester Two include Law and Communities, Crime, Law and Punishment, and Young People and the Law.

Assessment:

  • Assessment Type 1: Analytical Response (25%)
  • Assessment Type 2: Inquiry (35%)
  • Assessment Type 3: Presentation (40%)

Pathways:

Stage 1 Legal Studies is a great introduction for those who wish to study Legal Studies at Stage 2, or even Australian and International Politics at Stage 1 or 2. Legal Studies will also benefit those who wish to study Business or Australian History at tertiary level.
