Net Learning is a way for you to be involved in schooling when you cannot attend regular classes.
You choose when and where you would like to study.
The flexibility of these SACE program allows you to undertake studies away from the normal school setting.
This learning program is designed as a means for you to progress through a series of activities vital to satisfying the objectives of a SACE Stage 1 course.
The units on offer are all written to satisfy the objectives of the Subject Outline under SACE Board guidelines, and will be delivered to you by experienced senior secondary teachers.
To enrol in a unit or units you will need to:
be enrolled in SACE in a school in South Australia or be prepared to enrol in SACE at Muirden College.
You will need to be able to satisfy the following criteria:
- To work independently.
- To complete work in a given time frame.
- To have regular access to a computer with Internet and Email facilities.
- Be 15 years of age or over.
- Be eligible to enter Stage 1 SACE studies or be entered in SACE.
- Be able to demonstrate a need to access curriculum via non-traditional methods.
If you do not satisfy the criteria above but wish to enrol in a unit or units please contact the College office on 8212 4342.
Net Learning is designed to expose you to different materials that can be used for obtaining knowledge and enable you to present material for assessment using the Internet, fax or paper.
Once enrolled you will receive a password which enable you to access course material including the topic study guides and assessment items for completion.
The materials and recommended texts are essential for your learning, as they are your main information sources.
Any problems with the course work or assessment criteria just email your contact person, and they will respond to your query.
Submission of assessment items is easy. Just send your finished piece using the email facility. Any paper or audio work can be sent in the post
Drafting of work is encouraged with regular email contact being vital to success
A group mail service is available so you can discuss issues with other students studying the same unit.
As Net Learning is providing access to SACE curriculum. SACE Board assessment polices and procedures need to be adhered to.
Verification
It is assumed that each piece of summative assessment presented for marking is the enrolled student's work. To verify this, a drafting process is required with regular email contact between the teacher and the student.
Students will be expected to sign a declaration on enrolment stating that all work submitted for final assessment is their own.
School Assessment Policy
Muirden has an assessment policy which students are expected to adhere to. This is consistent with SACE Board policies on school assessment, and promotes valid, reliable assessment of course objectives. See our policies
Formative assessment... takes place during the delivery of a course of study and is designed to give feedback to the student of their progress. This form of assessment does not contribute towards the subject assessment.
Summative assessment... involves the measurement of student achievement against the objectives of the course. This is achieved by assessment of topic tests, written assignments, reports etc.

Global Business Environments
This is a one unit program approved by the SACE board which, upon satisfactory completion will gain the student one unit towards the SACE Certificate.
This unit has been designed as a semester long course but may be completed over a shorter or longer period of time via negotiation.
Students must undertake 50 - 60 hours of programmed time.
A study of economics will allow students to develop an understanding of the foundations upon which the Australian economy operates as well as to gain specific knowledge, skills and attitudes pertaining to economics. Economics will assist students to develop critical thinking processes as well as problem-solving, inquiry and communication skills.

- Five Sector Circular Flow Model
- Employment and Unemployment
This is a one unit program approved by the SACE board which, upon satisfactory completion will gain the student one unit towards the SACE Certificate.
This unit has been designed as a semester long course but may be completed over a shorter or longer period of time via negotiation.
Students must undertake 50 - 60 hours of programmed time.
This subject is divided into three sections:
Text Analysis
Text Production
Extended Study – Function and Power of Language.
This is a 10-credit program approved by the SACE Board which, upon satisfactory completion will gain the student 10 credits towards the SACE Certificate and allows students to achieve part of the literacy requirement in the SACE.
This unit has been designed as a semester long course but may be completed over a shorter or longer period of time via negotiation.
Students must undertake 50 - 60 hours of programmed time.
This subject is divided into two topics:
- the plague
- the cold war
This is a 10-credit program approved by the SACE Board which, upon satisfactory completion will gain the student 10 credits towards the SACE Certificate and allows students to achieve part of the literacy requirement in the SACE.
This unit has been designed as a semester long course but may be completed over a shorter or longer period of time via negotiation.
Students must undertake 50 - 60 hours of programmed time.
This subject is divided into two topics:
- Measurement
- Budgeting
This is a 10-credit program approved by the SACE Board which, upon satisfactory completion will gain the student 10 credits towards the SACE Certificate and allows students to achieve part of the literacy requirement in the SACE.
This unit has been designed as a semester long course but may be completed over a shorter or longer period of time via negotiation.
Students must undertake 50 - 60 hours of programmed time.
