Quite Different From Other Schools.
Muirden Senior College is quite different from other secondary schools. Opportunity and self-sufficiency are two features students experience while studying with us. A team of both experienced and new, vibrant, highly qualified, specialist teachers work closely with students creating a nurturing, relaxed environment, offering one-on-one support when needed.
We acknowledge and accept individual differences. We provide a supportive environment which encourages students to develop a committed approach to their educational goals and to engage with their learning community.

Study Pathways
To gain the SACE, students complete about two years of full-time study which many students spread over three years. There are two stages to the SACE. Most students complete Stage One in Year 11, apart from Exploring Identities and Futures, which most students are likely to do in Year 10.

Opportunity and self-sufficiency are two features students experience while studying with us. The College does not require students to sit an entrance examination to enrol, and there are no mandatory extracurricular activities.

Established in 1900, Muirden has provided quality education for over 100 years, offering subjects specifically aimed at university entrance.
About Muirden
Small classes, from 5 to 15 students, enable teachers the time to check in individually with each student during lessons. It is our aim to remain a small school community of between 100 and 120 full-time equivalent enrolments over the two senior years. This encouraging and cooperative atmosphere supports students through the transition from school to university.

Our History
Muirden College opened on the 9th of July, 1900 in two rooms at Ware Chambers in Grote Street. In 1929 the College moved to permanent premises at 368 King William Street, where it is today, in the same lovely old building with a warm, friendly, informal atmosphere.
Achieving the SACE
Each subject or course successfully completed earns credits towards the SACE. At least 200 credits are required for students to gain the certificate, with compulsory Literacy, Numeracy and Exploring Identities and Futures at Stage 1, and Activating Identities and Futures at Stage 2.
Enrol at Muirden
Small classes, from 5 to 15 students, enable flexibility in the teaching of curriculum allowing teachers to respond to the needs of students on an individual level. Trial days are available.

Learn About Enrolment
An interview with the Principal is the starting point for enrolment. Career paths, subject selections and the tuition fee are discussed at the interview.

Apply / Enrol
Students are encouraged to enrol at least one term before commencement of studies. Subject preferences can be best accommodated if enrolments are received and confirmed early.
